Berth covers what most apps use Firebase for, sign in, a database, file storage, realtime updates, functions and hosting, on a relational Postgres database, for a flat monthly price.

What is the same

• Everything for an app in one place. Auth with Apple and Google, storage, realtime updates, server functions and hosting for your site.
• Client keys that are safe to ship. Phones and browsers use a publishable key and a user token, and every table has a policy.

What is different

• SQL instead of documents. Firestore is a NoSQL document store; Postgres on Firebase goes through Data Connect. On Berth every app is a Postgres database you can query, join and export with standard tools.
• No surprise bills. Firebase's Blaze plan bills as you go, and its budget alerts do not pause services. Berth's limits are hard caps: at a limit it refuses the request instead of charging more.
• A flat price. Berth Pro is $12 a month for the first 100 accounts.
